The Royal Yeomanry 1967-1969

The Regiment had barely settled down from the amalgamation when, in 1967, a much more drastic reorganisation took place, The Yeomanry were to be reduced from 20 Regiments to one. Fortunately the Sharpshooters were to provide one Squadron of this new regiment, the Royal Yeomanry. It was to be based at their existing Croydon Headquarters.

More importantly they were fully equipped as an air portable reconnaissance regiment including 22 Ferret scout cars. The Royal Yeomanry was also given the operational task to provide rear area security in BAOR The British Army of the Rhine). This meant regular annual camps in Germany. They had become Cold War Warriors.
