Sharpshooters in Afghanistan 2007

C (Kent and Sharpshooters Yeomanry) Squadron

The Royal Yeomanry 2000-Afghanistan Op Herrick 2008-2014

From 2007, the British Army has been involved in operations as part of  the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF)

The main object has been to suppress the continued terrorist threat and to build a viable Afghan state. Britain’s main area of operations has been Helmand province

KSY involvement has been restricted to a few individuals each year but the net effect has been that most members of the Squadron have seen at least one period of active service.

The Squadron has been fortunate to avoid any casualties on overseas service.. However, Cpl James Dunsby, who had seen service in Iraq, died on exercise on the Brecon Beacons in 2013.
