Our history from 1945 - today

HRH Princess Alexandra inspecting the Ferret scout cars and their crews July 1963

Kent and County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) 1961-1967

The high point of this period in the Regiment’s history was the presentation of the Guidon by HRH Princess Alexandra at Maidstone on 17 July 1963

This was the first Guidon carried by the Kent Yeomanry since the 1830s and the first ever carried by the Sharpshooters.

The guidon bears the World War I honours gained by the two Regiments many of which were duplicated as they fought alongside each other in Gallipoli, Egypt and Palestine. In the case of World War 2, there 10 honours selected from the 43 won by the Sharpshooters. The Royal Artillery commemorative badge commemorated the service of the Kent Yeomanry in forming two Royal Artillery Field Regiments.
