The Burrows

Captain Anthony Burrows was born in 1908 in Keston. He went to Tonbridge School, and apparently got criticised in his school report for being lazy. He told his father he wished his teacher was dead, and came back next term to find his wish had come true! The teacher had as a legacy donated a prize for English, which Anthony won for the next three years.

He joined his family firm of insurance brokers direct from school, and in his leisure time he enjoyed skiing, rock climbing and golf, and joined the West Kent Yeomanry, with much riding and summer camps.

It was on a skiing holiday in Zermatt in 1937 that he met his future wife Eve.
