Fellow Officers – Captain Tom Bowring MC

Captain Tom Bowring served in all the major theatres of war in which the Kent Yeomanry fought during WW2; France, Middle East and then Italy. Towards the end of the war Tom was awarded a Military Cross for distinguished service, particularly in Italy. His citation noted

"On the morning of 3 July 1944 when the regiment was in action in the mountain sector of Italy, north of Perugia, Captain Bowring was waiting at a rendezvous in a house which came under heavy shell- fire. Many men were killed or wounded, but despite the continued shelling Captain Bowring organised the evacuation of the most seriously injured, and was undoubtedly instrumental in saving their lives without caring for his own..."
