FV721 Fox Armoured Car
The squadron was re-equipped with 20 Fox armoured cars in 1976. Saladins were retained in the support troop until 1984, when the troop was re-equipped with CVR/T vehicles.
Designed as an upgraded Ferret, Fox had aluminium armour and was armed with a 30mm L21 Rarden cannon. Amongst other innovative features, Fox had image intensifying night sights and driver’s sight which considerably enhanced night operating capability.
At this time C Squadron’s intended wartime role was one of rear area security as part of 49 Brigade, part of 2 Division
