The Ferret was created as a successor to the very capable Dingo by Daimler.  It was introduced in 1952 and remained in production until 1971.

The Sharpshooters were issued with the Mk 2/3 version which had a small machine-gun turret.

The first examples were received in 1961 after the amalgamation and they remained part of C Squadron’s equipment into the early 1980s.

Power was from a Rolls-Royce M60 Mk 6A engine providing 129bhp.  Maximum road speed was 94Km/h and they had an operational range of 300km.  Armament was a single 0.30-inch L3A4 Browning machine gun.
