1980 - Tim Berners Lee launches the internet
We chose 1980 as a significant date because it was the date the internet was launched.
The internet can be used for many useful things from education to entertainment. It provides mountains of information on every subject with more everyday so you don’t have to go somewhere and hope they have the information.
The internet can also be used for communication. It connects everyone through many different platforms like Facebook and Skype. Anyone who has access, wherever they are can talk by means of the internet.
This was an important event in history because the internet is incredibly useful in so many different ways. The launch of the internet suddenly connected everybody with access to it.
