During summer term 2015, year 8 history students at Bennett Memorial Diocesan School in Tunbridge Wells were asked by the Trustees to help them find the most significant events from 1714-2015 to put on the timechart that runs along the top of the wall in the museum.
Students in our year group learn more about “significance” as part of the Bennett history curriculum, so this was a great chance to put the teaching and our learning into practice.
We each did our own research, and found that many of us chose many of the same significant events, although we had some weird choices too! The curators also added in some specific dates relating to their regiment’s history.
In this presentation, we explain the reasons for choosing fifteen of the dates that you see on the wallchart.
