Fundraising

The Kent and Sharpshooters Yeomanry Association is a registered charity and exists solely through voluntary donations from members together with income from investments that our predecessors made when the SYA was established as a Gin and Tears Club in 1943. We also benefit from direct financial support from the Worshipful Company of Insurers who were brought into being post World War 2 by a former Sharpshooter – Alan Grant MC.

The annual voluntary subscription contributes towards the cost of the production of the annual journal and other charitable work including sending parcels (morale boxes) to those Sharpshooters deployed on operations. These latter are very much appreciated by the serving soldiers whether they are regulars or Yeomen as you can see from the comments below:

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your team for these wonderful boxes, we have received. I have done a number of operations over the Christmas period within my 18 years in the Army, and I have never seen so many smiling face when these boxes have been opened”.

“Just a quick note to you and the association to say thank you for our parcels. They have been just what we needed and a little taste of home. The wooly hats were very well received and we wore them as spectators and players when we played the Americans at American football over Thanksgiving”.

Thank you again.

We are always looking to boost our funds to enable us to do this vital and morale lifting work. We also support the families of those deployed by holding a variety of family functions that partners and their children can come to.
