Military Medal (MM)
This medal was introduced by Royal Warrant of March 1916 for acts of gallantry and devotion to duty by NCOs and men in the field
In 1918 all servicemen who had received the award were authorised to use the letters MM after their names.
Over 100,000 awards were made in World War I and 15,000 in World War
As a result of the changes made in 1993 which resulted in the extension of the MC towards all ranks, the MM was discontinued.
