In 1926 they were mobilised to escort food convoys through London but essentially they kept their character and equipment until in 1938 they were increased from Company to Regimental strength and then in 1939 raised a second regiment – the 4th CLY.
At this time they lost their armoured cars and gained a mix of outdated tanks that were not suitable to go to war in.
