Windham Thomas Wyndham-Quin, 4th Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl Honorary Colonel, 3rd CLY, 1900-1925

Born in 1841, Lord Dunraven’s varied life included military service with The Life Guards, after which he became a war correspondent.

He covered wars in Abyssinia, Spain and Turkey as well as the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, and witnessed the signing of the treaty at Versailles in 1871.

In 1871, he succeeded his father as Earl, and served in the British government as Under Secretary of State for the Colonies in 1885-1887.
