Kent Yeomanry

Gallipoli 1915

In Sept 1915 the East and West Kent Yeomanry were sent as infantry to Gallipoli where they had their first experience of trench warfare. They remained there only until December when they were among the last British units to be evacuated to Egypt.—

For the next year they continued to train as dismounted cavalry in Egypt but eventually it was decided that those Yeomanry which had been sent without their horses would be of more value as infantry.
