The Curator

Throughout his 48 years service as curator, Boris used his knowledge to identify KSY artefacts that were stored in museum storerooms up and down the country, and persuaded the owners to transfer them into our collection. Many unique items have come to us through Boris’ tireless research.

The new museum at Hever was part of Boris’ long term vision, and he was a key member of the design team, commuting regularly to Kent from his home in Shrewsbury. Boris attended the opening ceremony in September 2015, the day when he finally retired as curator aged 79.

The prospect of the new museum gave Boris energy at a time when his health was declining.  Three months later Boris passed away, and is survived by his daughter Eugenie.

The “Boris Mollo Gallery” in the museum honours the memory of the man to whom the museum owes its existence.
