The Curator

Boris talking to HRH Princess Alexandra at the opening of the original KSY Museum at Hever in 1985

In his civilian career, Boris joined the National Army Museum, rising to become Deputy Director. He later moved to Shrewsbury to become Curator of the Shropshire Light Infantry Museum, in the aftermath of an IRA bomb which had damaged the building.

Boris used his museum experience to great effect with the Kent and Sharpshooters Yeomanry. In the late 1950s, when there was no regimental museum, Boris established small collections at our drill halls at Bromley, Croydon and Bexleyheath,  and then went on to create new museums for us, first at Squerreys Court, Westerham, and then in 1985 at the top of the castle keep at Hever.

He also found the time to write short histories of the Kent Yeomanry,  3 & 4th County of London Yeomanry,  and the Kent and County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) which were professionally published.  These books were and remain key reference books, and enable us to share our history with serving soldiers and the wider public
