The 2022 Annual All Ranks Bir El Gubi Dinner
The 75th All Ranks Bir El Gubi dinner will take place on Saturday 19th November 2022. It will be the 75th in an unbroken line of dinners that started in 1947 and it is the 81st Anniversary of the Battle. The dinner will be held at the Cavalry and Guards Club, 127 Piccadilly and the timings are 1830 for 1930hrs. A cash bar will operate both before and after dinner.
The first post war 3rd/4th CLY dinner was held in 1947 at Shoreditch Town Hall and by coincidence the first Kent Yeomanry dinner was also held at the same venue and year. The menu for 2022 is as follows:
Kiln Roast Salmon en Gelée with Quail Egg & and Roast Yellow Pepper Dressing
Rump of Lamb with a Sun Dried Tomato Jus, Dauphinoise Potatoes, Buttered Spinach, Roast Parsnips
Blue Mountain Chocolate Mousse with Chantilly Cream
Coffee
Petit Fours
The menu includes the following drinks:
1 Glass Club Prosecco, 1 Glass Club White Wine, ½ Bottle Club Red, 1 Glass Club Port
The preferred dress is black tie with either Association or Sharpshooter bow tie plus miniature medals. Sharpshooter tartan maybe worn and partners are welcome. The cost of the dinner this year is £83.50pp including service and VAT. A retiring collection will be held at the dinner to support the work of the Association so please give generously.
