The beginning of the new century brought great optimism. Video pictures, cars and aeroplanes were coming into use, although as you can see in the next slides, the Yeomanry’s main form of transport continued to be the horse.
There were lots of fashionable parties among “high society”, while “suffragettes” campaigned vigorously for women to be given the vote.
But the clouds of war were building across Europe, as countries competed with each other for wealth and power.
