The Background to the Award
Each year at the Squadron Ladies Night the Peter Blake Decanter, filled with port and with an engraved collar label, is presented to the Sharpshooter that most embodies the spirit and commitment that has driven the Squadron forward and to where it is today.
Peter served in the Squadron from 1970 until his death through illness in 2009. Peter quickly rose to SSM and held various Regimental posts including OC Westminster Dragoons. He gave valued advice and was a good friend to many with his funeral attended by 500 Sharpshooters and Westminster Dragoons.
