Bir El Gubi Lunch

Dear Sharpshooter

EL GUBI LUNCH 2012

As you will recall last year we celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Bir EL Gubi with a service in the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace followed by lunch in the Mess of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms in the Palace as well.

This year sees the 70th Anniversary of the battle of Alam El Halfa and although the Battle took place at the end of August 1942 it is considered appropriate that we should remember those Sharpshooters who fell in this crucial action. There will therefore be a service of Thanksgiving which will be held on Friday 16th November in The Queens Chapel, St James’s Palace starting at 1100 (doors open at 1045hrs). Please note that the new Association standard will be blessed at the service. The El Gubi Lunch will be held at the Civil Service Club, 13-15 Great Scotland Yard which is between Whitehall and Northumberland Avenue.  There will be a retiring collection at both the Queens Chapel and at the table after lunch.

The lunch is a set menu as follows;

Smoked Salmon

Steak and Mushroom Pie with seasonal vegetables

Vanilla Pannacota

Cheese and Biscuits

Coffee and Mints

The cost will be £40pp excluding drinks but including a glass of Port. A vegetarian option will also be available.

If you wish to attend please complete the attached form and return with your cheque (payable to ‘Kent and Sharpshooters Yeomanry Association’) to Paul Acda: If you wish to add a contribution to Association funds please indicate the amount on the form below and add it into your cheque.

Please note that places for lunch are limited to 65.
