Who Are We

Who Were We ? 1900-2014

In 1908 we became part of the Territorial Army.

As Territorials we fought in two World Wars.

In WWI 1914-18,  we initially served as cavalry.  In later stages of the war,  we had to give up our horses and serve as infantry.

In WW2 1939-45,  the last of our horses were taken from us and we were mechanised. We served in tanks, armoured cars and as artillery.

In 1945 we were almost disbanded but with the onset of the Cold War,  we were recalled to service. We trained as reserves for the British Army of the Rhine in case of attack from the East.

Following the end of the Cold War in 1990 we served as individuals in the Gulf War, in Iraq and Afghanistan, and elsewhere in Europe and the Middle East
